Halloween calls for spooky art, so why not combine your kids’ love of Minecraft with their favorite day of the year? This Minecraft witch hat art project is ideal for preschoolers and big kids alike.
What You Need
- Watercolor paper
- Paint brush
- Black, green, and gray construction paper
- School glue
Begin by painting the background of the artwork. (This step is optional if you’re making this art with small kids who might not have the patience for it to dry.)
Use the green and black watercolors, or orange and black watercolors for Halloween, and blend them together on the watercolor paper.
Next, sprinkle the salt on the wet watercolors and allow it to dry completely for a pixelated look.
While the watercolor is drying, cut out these shapes from the construction paper:
- Black: 7.5″ by 1.5″
- Black: 6″ by 3.5″
- Black: 4.5″ by 4″
- Black: 1″ by 1″
- Gray: 6″ by 1″
- Gray: 2.5″ by 2.25″
- Green: 1.5″ by 1.5″

Once the watercolor background is completely dry, shake the salt off the paper.
Begin making the witch hat by gluing the longest strip on the bottom of the paper.
Glue the large rectangle, square, and small square next.
Next, glue the gray strip in the middle of the large rectangle (the second to the bottom shape).
Glue the gray square in the middle of the strip. Finally, glue the green square in the middle of the gray square.
Allow the glue to dry completely. Your Minecraft witch hat is complete!
