September 26, 2015 is the return of Batman Day! To celebrate the Caped Crusader, give this print painting a try with your kids. Press the paper to print a one-of-a-kind Batman logo perfect for hanging in a superhero-themed bedroom or playroom. You can even do this craft with blank notecards for a birthday party invitation or thank you card!
What You Need
- Two pieces of paper
- Black paint (or any color of washable paint if you’re making this with kids)
- Batman logo template
- Plastic wrap
- Craft foam
- Scissors or X-acto knife
- Paint roller or foam paint brush
Begin by printing the Bat logo and tracing it on the craft foam. Use scissors or the X-acto knife to cut the foam.
Next, cover the table or countertop with plastic cling wrap. Smooth out as many bubbles and wrinkles as you can, but leaving them adds a lot of texture to the painting.
Squeeze paint directly on the plastic wrap.
Next, use a paint brush or roller to spread the paint in a paper-sized shape.
Gently place the craft foam Batman logo in the paint.
Place a piece of paper on top of the paint, and press firmly without moving the craft foam. Be sure to press the spaces directly under the wings, using your fingers to get along all of the curves.
Remove the paper. You likely have a white blob for the logo, but that’s okay. This paper can be discarded (unless you like how it looks).
Carefully remove the foam logo without touching the paint.
Take another piece of paper and press it firmly on top of the paint. You can also use a clean, dry roller to make sure you press evenly on the back of the paper.
Carefully remove the paper, and you should have a much more visible Batman logo in your painting. It might take a few tries to get it to look just right, but that’s part of the fun!
Allow the paint to dry, and your Batman print painting is complete.
