Star Wars: The Force Awakens doesn’t hit theaters until December, but plucky droid BB-8 is already winning hearts. For Father’s Day, paint a one-of-a-kind frame for a Star Wars fan who can’t wait to see Episode VII.
What You Need
- Circle wood frame
- Medium wood circle, approx. 6.5 cm in diameter
- Small wood circle, approx. 4 cm in diameter
- White, black, gray, and light orange acrylic paint
- Paint brushes
Begin by painting the frame and both wood circles white.
Next, use the small 4 cm. circle as a template to lightly draw circles and half-circles on the frame and the medium wood circle.
Using those circles as a guide, paint over them with orange paint.
Next, paint small trapezoid shapes within each light orange circle.
While the orange paint is drying, cut 1/4 off the bottom of the 4 cm. wood circle to make BB-8’s head.
Paint the details of the head with the orange, gray, and black paint.
Next, paint the gray designs in the orange circles on both the wooden frame and the medium wood circle. (You can use this photo as a design guide if you’re a stickler for accuracy.)
Allow all of the paint to dry completely.
Glue BB-8’s body to the bottom of the frame, but be sure to attach it high enough for the frame to stand properly. Attach BB-8’s head on top of the body. Your frame is complete!
